Toshiba tv has no sound in tv mode but has sound in built in vcr and aux inputs.?

My toshiba tv plays sound when using the built in vcr and any aux input modes, but when watching tv you get a picture, but no sounds. I have looked through the menu settings but can't seem to find anything wrong there. I don't use a cable box, just right in from the wall. I have an old tv set and that works fine from the wall and plays sound. Tried using head phones and that does the same thing. Any help would be appreciated.

did you check several channels on the tv? try putting the Toshiba TV in another area with a different cable and see if it works then, if it does then to need a new cable end, if it doesn't then you need to replace the cable input jack on the back of your tv, or get a regular VCR and try hooking it up to the TV with the incoming cable going through the TV, and see if that works. if you cant' have replaced, you can hook the VCR into the AUX Jack and use the VCR to change channels.
